In response to a British Council Going Global Partnerships grant call on disability inclusion, Kenyatta University’s Directorate of Disability Services and Sightsavers developed a grant proposal titled “Involvement and Engagement in Research by Persons with Disabilities at Kenyatta University”. This eighteen-month project aims to enhance the involvement of Kenyatta University (KU) students and academic staff with disabilities in research activities.

The project will be supported by funding from the British Council’s ‘Going Global’ partnerships programme. Going Global supports universities, colleges and wider education stakeholders around the world to work together towards stronger, equitable, inclusive, more internationally connected higher education, science and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The two partners will implement this project collaboratively, with KU spearheading most activities. The researchers for this project are: Dr. Margaret Murugami as Principal Investigator (Department of Early Childhood and Special Needs Education, Kenyatta University), Ms. Sheru Muuo as co-Principal Investigator (Sightsavers), Dr. Lubna Mazrui (Directorate of Disability Services and Department of Early Childhood and Special Needs Education, Kenyatta University), Mr. Kenneth Gichohi (Directorate of Disability Services, Kenyatta University), and Dr. Mary Chege.
